With architectural visualization becoming a more frequent marketing tool, it is also important to understand how to make the "boring parts" interesting too.
Above you see a render of an office I planned. This is the welcome desk of the office. All of the renders for the office were really bright and fun. Each area of the office was detailed with greenery, swings and trees. Because of the level of visual detail put into the project, I wanted the floor plan to reflect the same qualities. I took my AutoCAD plans, threw them into photoshop and added all the fun colors and textures that brought these renders to life (see below).
This skill is good to have as sometimes a company may not have the time or need for a full model with materials. The ability to offer the means to bring a plan to life can be a great marketing asset. With presentations becoming more visual, having plans people can grasp easily is key to selling ideas quickly - which makes it a great marketing asset. If you can take a visual as simple as a black and white plan and help people market their product using that, it makes the turnaround time great for both you and the client.

Another trend in rendered floor plans are colored callouts. This is even less time consuming as you are only rendering highlighted areas. Since the areas are smaller and more specific, it is easier to finish quickly and effectively. These often end up looking beautiful and when the design is intentional, it looks graphically very clean. These are an even better marketing tool since they take less time, look graphically strong and are extremely effective to help focus on smaller areas of the designs.
The ability to render floor plans can be extremely profitable. Another example of how taking the time to master photoshop skills can come in handy.
